PDF Flip — Privacy Policy
Effective date: 15 October 2026
PDF Flip is a PDF flipbook reader maintained by Phuong. It supports local PDFs, reading progress, page links, attached audio and optional Google Drive storage.
Google access and purpose
When you sign in, the app uses your Google account identifier, name, email and profile information to identify your account and separate its device storage. It requests permission to create and access app-created Drive files (drive.file) to save your personal PDFs, attached audio, folder names, links and reading progress. It creates a “DCD Book Library” folder and a library.json file in your Drive. This data is used to provide the reader and library features you choose.
Loading the optional shared default library asks separately for broader read-only Drive access (drive.readonly), because the shared folder was not created by the app. With that permission, the app reads that configured shared folder and your app library; its code does not scan your unrelated Drive files. Google may require additional consent and verification for this optional permission.
Exactly what information is accessed
- Google account: the account ID, email address, name and profile information returned by Google to identify your account. PDF Flip does not ask for your Google password.
- Drive files: PDF contents, attached audio, filenames, MIME types, Drive file and folder IDs, modification times, and the saved library.json file.
- Library data: book titles, folders, last-read pages, page-to-page links, audio attachment references and hidden/deleted library entries.
- Device data: locally generated book-cover thumbnails, cached files, theme and autosave preferences, and account-specific storage identifiers.
How the information is used
Account information identifies the active library and separates browser caches. File contents are rendered as flipbook pages or played as audio. File metadata locates app files and checks for conflicting saves. Library data restores folders, links and reading progress across devices. The app creates PDFs and audio files in your Drive when you save local imports, and updates library.json when you save library changes. It can read selected supported Google documents or presentations from the configured shared library and export them to PDF for reading.
Storage and sharing
PDFs, audio, account-specific library metadata and reading progress are cached in IndexedDB on your device. Theme, autosave preferences and an optional public Client ID override are stored in browser local storage. Guest storage and each Google account use separate databases. Cached account data remains after sign-out; someone who can access your browser storage may be able to read it. Google access tokens are held in page memory, not stored by this app in browser storage.
Private uploads and library metadata are sent directly from your browser to Google Drive. The app does not send those files to an app-owner server or make them public. File visibility follows the permissions in your Drive. Google handles authentication and storage under its Privacy Policy. Cloudflare hosts this site and CDN providers deliver the PDF reader code; providers may process IP addresses and technical request information. The app includes no advertising or separate analytics tracker.
Protection of Google user data
The deployed site and Google API requests use HTTPS to protect data in transit. Google OAuth handles authorization; the app never asks you to paste an access token or provide your password. Access tokens are held only in the current page’s memory and expire. Private library data is stored in your own Google Drive and in an account-specific IndexedDB database on your device. Your Drive library is not intentionally made public by the app. Browser caches are not encrypted separately by PDF Flip, so use a trusted device, secure your Google account and clear site data on shared devices. No storage or transmission system is guaranteed perfectly secure.
Transfers and human access
The browser transfers your library data to Google to provide the Drive features you authorize. PDF Flip does not intentionally transfer your Google file contents to Cloudflare, GitHub, advertisers, data brokers or other third parties. Cloudflare, code CDNs and the favicon host can receive technical requests needed to serve the site and its resources, but the app does not include your PDFs or access token in those resource requests. The maintainer has no app-server database of your Google files and does not routinely read your Google data. If you voluntarily send a file or account details for support, they will be used only to resolve that request; do not send passwords or access tokens. Legal disclosures, if applicable, are limited to information the maintainer actually holds and is required to disclose.
Limited Use
PDF Flip’s use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Google data is used only for these visible library features. It is not sold, used for advertising, credit or lending decisions, or used to develop, improve or train non-personalized AI or machine-learning models.
Control, retention and deletion
Autosave can be disabled in Settings. Save library uploads your library; Load from Drive can replace this account’s device library after confirmation. Import guest books copies this device’s guest PDFs and attachments into the connected account’s library, which can then be uploaded.
Sign out clears the current app connection but keeps Drive files and device caches; it does not sign you out of Google or revoke permissions. Delete “DCD Book Library” in Drive and empty its trash to permanently remove saved cloud files. Clear this site’s data in browser settings on every device to remove cached data. Revoke permissions at Google Account → Third-party connections. Deleting a book in the app removes it from the library, not its original Drive PDF or previously uploaded audio. Account data stays until you remove it through these controls.
Retention periods
PDF Flip keeps no separate app-server copy of your private library. Saved Drive files remain until you delete them from Drive; deleting or hiding an entry in the app does not delete the original PDF or old audio uploads. Account-specific device files remain until you clear this site’s storage or your browser removes them. Sign-out clears the current page’s token and account connection while retaining device copies. Any technical logs independently held by hosting or API providers follow those providers’ retention policies; PDF Flip does not control those logs.
Contact and supervised use
For support or privacy requests, use the support email shown on PDF Flip’s Google consent screen. The maintainer is Phuong (GitHub profile). The app owner cannot erase files directly from your Drive without your authorization; the deletion and permission controls above let you remove them yourself. Do not share private PDFs or credentials in public support channels. Adults should supervise children and manage any connected Google account in accordance with Google’s account rules. This page will be updated when data handling changes. Significant changes will be disclosed in the app, and additional consent will be requested before Google data is used for a new purpose.
